Sub-Zero 650 Bottom-Freezer
The Sub-Zero 650 is a 36-inch built-in over-and-under from the 600 Series, with the ice maker in the freezer drawer. When it stops making ice, check the ICE light is on and whether ICE and SERVICE flash together. Sub-Zero Repair Redmond repairs the 650; call (425) 905-2822 with the tag reading.

When the 650 stops making ice
Start at the control panel. The ICE light should be on; if it is dark, the ice maker has simply been switched off with the ICE key. If ICE and SERVICE are flashing together, the control has timed out the fill valve, and Sub-Zero’s service manual sends you to three things before any part: a cube jammed in the ice maker, an ice maker that has been knocked out of level, and a fill cup pushed into the path of the ice.
After that it is the water. The 600 Series asks for a steady 20 to 100 psi at the valve and a supply that is not softened. A shut-off closed during work under the sink, or an overdue filter elsewhere on the line, is worth ruling out before the valve is blamed.
Then the drawer. The ice maker sits in the freezer drawer, and the drawer only seals if it closes fully on its incline. A warm freezer makes ice slowly or not at all, so the freezer temperature is checked before the ice maker is condemned.
What else goes on a 650
The same faults as any 600 Series combination: sensors that read EE or store EC 05 to EC 08, a defrost circuit on the freezer side, fans, and on the refrigerator side the door closing cam. Because the refrigerator and freezer run on separate systems, a warm refrigerator over a hard freezer is its own fault, not a sign that the whole unit is going.
Before the visit
Read us the model and serial from the tag inside the refrigerator door, near the top hinge, and say what the display shows. The serial decides which control the unit has, and with it whether there are stored codes to read.

- The 650 and 611 have a door closing cam: opened to about 120 degrees it holds, and near the end of the swing it takes over and pulls the door shut. A door that does neither needs the cam or hinge looked at. Sub-Zero Repair Redmond, (425) 905-2822.
- Is there a code for the ice maker on a 650?
- On the later control, yes. ICE and SERVICE flashing means the fill valve stayed open past fifteen seconds, and five of those are stored as EC 30 for Diagnostic Mode. An earlier 650 flashes but stores nothing. Sub-Zero Repair Redmond, (425) 905-2822, reads it on site.
