Sub-Zero 632 Side-by-Side
The Sub-Zero 632 is the 48-inch side-by-side of the 600 Series, freezer and refrigerator each behind its own full-height door, with no dispenser. The model and serial are on the tag inside the freezer door near the top hinge. Read them to Sub-Zero Repair Redmond on (425) 905-2822 and the control generation is settled before the visit.
Identify it
- Forty-eight inches across, two tall doors meeting in the middle, and no ice or water opening in either one.
- Touch keys on the control with a SERVICE light, and an ICE key for the built-in ice maker.
- 632 on the tag inside the freezer door, with a letter after the slash for the finish.
- A grille across the top, 11 inches as standard, although heights from 10 to 15 inches were sold.

What sits behind the grille
The 632 carries its machinery at the top: the condenser, its fan and two compressors, one for each side, all behind the grille above the doors. Work on any of them starts at that grille, so the side panels, the doors and the toe-kick are normally left where they are.
What it is usually called in for
Two compressors mean two separate cooling systems. A warm refrigerator beside a freezer that is holding hard is one side’s fault, not a sign the whole unit is failing, and it is diagnosed on that side alone.
On a later 632 the control stores its own record: sensor faults, defrost faults on the freezer side, compressors that ran too long, and ice maker fills that timed out. An early 632 shows symptoms only, a flashing SERVICE light or VACUUM CONDENSER, and the technician works from temperatures read in Diagnostic Mode.
Doors that stop sealing
Each 632 door has a spring-loaded closure that takes over near the end of the swing and pulls the door onto its gasket. A door that drifts open or stops short points at that closure or the door’s adjustment. Sub-Zero limits each overlay panel to 50 pounds, so if new panels went on and a door has not sealed since, mention it when you call.
