EC 06: Refrigerator Evaporator Sensor Fault
EC 06 means the sensor on the refrigerator evaporator of a later 600 Series read open, shorted or erratically. The fresh-food compartment can look entirely normal while SERVICE flashes by itself. Two sensors on the fresh-food side
The refrigerator side of a later 600 Series carries two sensors. One reads the compartment air; the other reads the evaporator, the coil that does the cooling. EC 05 belongs to the first and EC 06 to the second.
A loose plug looks like a dead part
Sub-Zero’s manual words the fault as disconnected, shorted or misread. A connector that has worked loose reads the same as a failed sensor, so the wiring is checked before a part is changed.
Older units
A 600 Series built before serial number 1810000 shows the same pattern, normal temperatures with SERVICE flashing, for the same sensor. That earlier control stores no codes, so the diagnosis rests on the display and a meter.

- The display shows the compartment sensors, not the coil. When the sensor on the refrigerator evaporator fails, readings can stay normal while the control flags the fault.
